The results of the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS), published on 10 July, once again show the benefits and opportunities studying geography brings, with students across the UK highly satisfied with their university experience.
The survey, which is completed by final year students in every UK university, shows improved student satisfaction among geography undergraduates, with a higher percentage of positive responses on all questions than the 2023 survey. In all of the survey’s categories and across all subjects, geography, earth and environmental studies students responded more positively than the national average. Â
The survey also indicates that geography students are highly satisfied with specific elements of their university experience, with 95% of geography respondents agreeing that their teaching staff were good at explaining things, higher than the average rate for all subjects (91.1%). Geography students were also highly satisfied with their ability to access specialist resources and facilities (91.6% felt supported by their library resources), and many found their course intellectually stimulating (89.2%) and in-depth (88.4%).Â
The NSS is open to final year undergraduate students between January and April each year. Â
