Embedding careers education

Schools and colleges have a responsibility to set students on the path that will secure the best outcome which will enable them to progress in education and work and give employers the highly skilled people they need. DfE Careers guidance and access for education and training providers, January 2023.

With our support, you can embed careers education into your curriculum seamlessly and in an interesting and inspiring way. Our aim is to encourage and support students to #ChooseGeography by highlighting the skills that studying geography at GCSE and A Level gives you, what geographical educational pathways are available, and which employment sectors people with geographical skills end up in.

Providing students in schools and college with careers education is a statutory requirement, and Ofsted will explore and rate careers provision during an inspection. The DfE provides a which outlines statutory guidance for schools and colleges, and also has a which provides information and support.

The Gatsby benchmarks of good careers education are used by some schools and colleagues to structure their careers education provision, and we provide a wealth of support linked to most benchmarks.
